As the HSSEQ Manager at CAPE Holland, you are responsible for leading, managing, and developing health, safety, security, environmental, and quality processes within CAPE Holland. The primary objective of this role is to ensure regulatory compliance, promote safe working conditions, and enhance overall performance in the HSSEQ domain. Employees and managers are actively engaged in safety initiatives and safe working environments.

For example, the workday starts with reviewing safety reports, discussing risk factors in a new construction project, and analyzing data for implementing improvements. You are aware of where safety risks lie, which ones need prioritization, and promptly and accurately report any incidents to relevant parties. You are assertive and possess strong communication skills. You collaborate closely with fellow managers, the HSSE, and Quality Control Engineer.

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining HSSEQ policies, procedures, and guidelines at company and project levels;
  • Ensuring compliance with legal regulations and industry standards in health, safety, security, environment, and quality;
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing HSSEQ risks in all operational processes;
  • Coordinating training and awareness programs to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with HSSEQ protocols;
  • Conducting or overseeing audits and inspections to check the effectiveness of HSSEQ processes and drive continuous improvement;
  • Timely reporting on HSSEQ performance to (senior) management, HSSEQ Manager Venterra, and advising on necessary improvements and actions;
  • Leading incident investigations and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence;
  • Maintaining contacts with relevant external entities, such as regulatory agencies and stakeholders, regarding HSSEQ matters;
  • Promoting a culture of safety, quality, and environmental awareness within the organization;
  • Continuously improving HSSEQ processes and procedures;
  • The Manager HSSEQ is a member of the Management team.

You are capable of working multidisciplinary and don’t adhere strictly to a 9-to-5 mentality. Due to the international nature of the industry, there is a possibility that you may be contacted outside office hours on occasion. However, you also have flexibility in how you fulfill your role. Customer and/or site visits may be required for your position. You are proactive, and with your hands-on mentality and sense of humor, you ensure that things get done.

  • HBO/WO level of education, with an affinity for construction technology, mechanical engineering, and offshore;
  • Relevant certifications in health, safety, and environment, such as NEBOSH (HVK), MOSHE, or an equivalent;
  • Work experience (minimum 3-5 years) in leading HSSEQ activities within the industry;
  • Leadership skills and the ability to promote a positive work environment and inspire others to take action in HSSEQ;
  • Solid knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in health, safety, security, environment, and quality control, both nationally and internationally;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, assess, and implement effective control measures for risks;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate at all organizational levels;
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining HSSEQ policies, procedures, and programs;
  • Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing work environment;
  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English languages, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in writing HSSE tender/project documentation and reports in English in a clear and coherent manner;
  • Willingness to travel.
