108 Jacket pin piles for Hai Long
108 JACKET PIN PILES FOR HAI LONG OFFSHORE WIND FARM – PHASE 2
In 2025, the CAPE VLT-640 was used to install the remaining 108 out of 219 jacket pin piles with a diameter up to 3.5 meter and a maximum length of 93.3 meter for phase two of the Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwanese waters.
CDWE deployed its heavy lift marine installation vessel Green Jade for the foundation installation work for this project. With the 4,000t crane and DP3 capabilities, Green Jade enables CDWE and its clients to transport a multitude of the next generation jackets and pin piles a single shipment.
Main reason to choose for using the CAPE VLT was to prevent pile run. However, the efficiency of using the CAPE VLT was proven during the project as well, with only a few minutes to drive pin piles up to 35m penetration depth.
The total installation time for one jacket location, from the moment the CAPE VLT was picked up to its release from the crane hook, was just a few hours. This included stabbing the CAPE VLT into the pin pile, upending the pile, lifting it to the correct location, stabbing the pile into the piling template, driving it to 35 metres, and repeating the process two more times. This represents a significant improvement in the installation time per jacket location.
