Monopile installation on Amalia Offshore Wind Farm
MONOPILE INSTALLATION ON AMALIA OFFSHORE WIND FARM
In 2018, the CAPE VLT-320 Tandem was used to upend and install a 4 meter diameter monopile with a slip joint and a length of 56.6 meter, in a water depth of 24 meter at the Amalia Offshore Wind Farm off the Dutch coast.
The pile was installed three times and extracted twice as part of a testing campaign during the Slip Joint Offshore Research test by DOT with the CAPE VLT whereby the pile was installed free hanging from the crane (no guiding of pile support frame used) using the Dynamic Positioning (DP) system of the installation vessel.
These tests provided a lot of knowledge about the versatility and usability of the vibro lifting technology, including correcting the verticality using the Dynamic Positioning system.
The pile was driven to final penetration and left behind for the next stage in the project.
